A jury found 33-year-old Darryl Wallace guilty on Tuesday, Oct. 8 of first-degree murder, second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, and second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said in a news release. The same jury convicted him in a separate trial on Wednesday, Oct. 9 of second-degree certain persons to not have firearms.

Wallace was charged in the Thursday, June 24, 2021 killing of Dominick Hull of Bridgeton. Millville police found the 28-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his head in the Carlton House Apartments parking lot.

Hull was rushed to Cooper University Hospital. He was pronounced dead about one week later.

Investigators said surveillance video showed Wallace approaching Hull and his friends before firing four shots from a 9mm gun. Wallace was not allowed to have a gun due to a prior conviction.

Wallace was captured in Phoenix, Arizona, on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021. He was extradited to New Jersey on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021.

Prosecutors said Wallace faces between 30 years and life in state prison. He must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence under the No Early Release Act.

Wallace was scheduled for sentencing on Friday, Dec. 6.
